About

Welcome to the creative world of Neil Mutch, where a passion for art and an architectural background converge.

Armed with a Diploma in History of Art, (Art Institute) and membership of the British Institute of Architectural Technologists (MBIAT) Neil has also immersed himself in various short and part time courses; Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, Glasgow School of Art and many other venues, resulting in some excellent tuition from numerous tutors.

Portraiture, paintings and sketches, many from life, as well as architectural illustration, mostly gravitating towards rural historical scenes form the basis of much of his work.

Traditional drafting techniques - drawing board and t-square - are employed during initial stages of the architectural illustrations, followed with the application of muted eco friendly pigments then pen and ink to complete the project.

The resulting uncluttered depictions of rural scenes provide welcome relief from our crowded complicated lives, evoking thoughts of times past mingling with the present, and of course with focus on the future and evolving situations.

Neil has built up a significant amount of work, some of which is offered here.
